Aches and Pains

I awoke this morning to a weather forecast of 65 and sunny. For a second I wished it would have been 30 and raining so I could give my aching body another day off. My knee is still swollen the size of a small orange from smacking it on my stem half way through the race on Sunday and my right knee is sore from doing all the work pulling the pedals around since I must have stopped pushing with my left leg after that. No wonder I was going backward in the race, I was only pedaling with one leg - doh.

I spent a little time getting at least one bike back to race ready condition after destroying both over the weekend and headed out with my homemade map and a pocket full of fuel. It was awesome, I rode about 2.5 hours on some of the best roads I've ever ridden. I say that alot, maybe it's because I've forgotten how sweet the last place I was really was, or it's because the present location is just new and different, but this place could keep me searching out new roads for years. I was constantly tempted to turn off the road I was riding to check out another road that looked even better and I was constantly amazed at the scenery. With winter only hitting the occasional 30s, I might have to say Asheville, NC has Boulder pretty much beat.

Too funny

If you get the chance, take a brief detour over to the Nantahala Outdoor Center and Blue Ride Parkway near Boone.

You won't be thinking of not riding after that. Trust me.

Make sure to hit the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Asheville for some killer pizza. They'll be a crowd there Sunday night!
