Third Coast Sunshine

I can't believe the weather we have been having here on the 3rd coast since I've been home. It has been what I had been hoping California was going to be like, guess I just needed to stay here. I've been riding in shorts and jersey the last few days working on my tan, it's funny how we skipped right over the knee warmer days from the leg warmer days and went straight to putting on suntan lotion.
I've been battling a small cold since the Sea Otter and it hasn't helped my training this last week. Riding easy has been fine, but I tried to get in some intervals and it wan't going so hot. I was sitting next to some people on the airplane that were just hacking the whole flight and I could just feel the germs penetrating my allready weakend immune system from playing in the rain and mud all week. Sure enough, woke up the next morning with a sore throat. Airports, they're germ incubators for sure!
Still going through all my Sea Otter pictures and just came up with this one, pretty good shot of Peraud heading for a face plant. The crowd was having a pretty good time heckling everyone and would roar when someone went down like this. It was pretty cool to race with that many people watching and cheering, they were really getting into too, something that you don't see that often.
I really wanted to race this weekend but there isn't anything going on around here. I've always wanted to drive up to Minnesota and do the Oxbow just cause I heard it's a pretty fun race but the 5 hour car drive has always been the flat tire that keeps me from making the trip. I think next weekend is a crit or something that I'll do. I really wish there were some good road races around here in the spring, it seem like each year there is one less. Maybe I'll have to check out the Illinois or Indiana schedule and see what they have.
Adios

Take it easy if you have a cold. It's your body's way of saying back off a little. Good thing there were no races for you. It's a long season!!

check out the Durrand Road Race over near Eau Claire - good fields - lots of Minnesota riders - 68 mile P/1/2

Tristan,

If you are looking to race next weekend there is a MTB TT in Platteville, WI on the 22nd. It's a fantastic course with lots of climbing and technical single track. 780' of climbing per lap. Pretty good for WI.
If you need any info just email me.

Did "the MAN" come down on you hard and make you take down your post about how 90% of the field were sucking down on their asthma inhalers RIGHT ON THE START LINE!

It looks like those blog entries have been removed......

Seems like I just received an email from Zap not too long ago bragging about how "pure" the TREK mtn bikers were. Bet you didn't get any support from Zap on that one, did ya!

No one came down on me to remove the blog, I just decided it wasn't the type of thing I wanted to be affiliated with and I didn't want the reputation for slinging mud. I decided to remove it, say I'm sorry, and move on. It was a mistake, I realize that now.

What's the point of having a cycling career if you're going to let ignorant people drag you down, and tell you that you have incorrectly interpretted first hand information about the doping issue?.... especially when it regards your own FIRST HAND info? and anyone who would tell you that it's wrong is totally ignorant? What the point of racing if there are two races going on? either go big or go home. There are lots of people who support you for trying to post the truth. Don't let idiots shut you up and drag you down. Back with the TRUTH!
