I Remember When...

It was almost 4 years ago exactly that I was camping in Carlsbad, CA with some friends and preparing for the road season with Saturn. I was reminded of this picture this week, it's the biggest pizza I've ever eaten and we got it near Mission Beach in San Diego for like $70, I think we blew the whole weekend budget on it but it was pretty awesome and probably fueled the next days ride for about 120 miles.

Those days seem like a long time ago. Whenever I start putting together my training for the next season I always think back of what I've done in the past and how it worked or how it didn't. I made some of my biggest leaps in fitness those years and while I never really raced that well on the road, I still think of all I learned that year with the team and still use it.

It's hard to imagine putting in those kind of hours around here yet this time of the year, I guess that's why all the guys that are fast at the first few races are always from that area. I feel like I did a 5 hour ride this weekend except I didn't, just a 2.5 hour ski was all but it was enough to remind me that time off comes with a price.

I used up all my trainer hours about 4 years ago too doing computrainer tests so I guess I'll keep skiing and wait for the weather to start melting the roads.
