Rode trails today for the first time this year. They were drier than expected, but the long winter has done significant trail damage in the form of trees and lots of branches covering the trails. It was more of a shake out ride on the new bike though and by the end I was was feeling comfortable on it. One thing that is really hard to get over is the wide stance mtn bikes have. Riding a cross or road bike for 6 months and then getting on a mtn bike with a wider crank/bb is really uncomfortable and hard to adjust too. I need to come up with a way of narrowing that down so both bikes feel similar. If it weren't for that my bikes would feel pretty identical. I really like this bike though and it fits well. With the rear suspension set up as it is, you don't get bucked off the saddle like many other full suspension bikes tend to do when you come off a bike hit, although I find myself being lazy on these full suspension bikes and just end up riding over stuff I normally would have jump over. Now I'm just waiting on the hardtail to show up and I'll be ready for the season to start.
