Leaving Cold, Arriving Colder

I headed out of Asheville Monday morning just in time. A light snow was coming down and once out on the highway I could see it had snowed at higher elevations. It was actually quite picturesque.
I have to thank the Wyatts for letting me stay at their house for a week, it's not often you find host housing that is so nice - they even ordered pizza and had a party Saturday night after the races!!

After finally leaving the scenery of NC the drive got a bit painful around the 10 hour mark. Luckily, I was able to stay in Philadelphia overnight before finishing up the drive to Connecticut on Tuesday and it felt pretty good to roll into Farmington, CT and know that I could unpack my bags for at least a little longer than a few days.
It's been quite a bit colder here than the mild temps I've been getting use to the last few weeks. Today I got out with my host for the next few weeks Ralph Pulver and some of the local crew on a pre thanksgiving day ride. The group got in over 3 hours which was a nice change of pace over riding by myself, I also stayed warm throughout which was unique being it was my first ride under 40 degrees since April and I couldn't remember the number of layers to wear in what order for that temperature. It all worked out though and I had a good time.

Tomorrow will be intervals of some sort in the morning, Thanksgiving with Ralph and family in the afternoon, then if I'm feeling motivated some sort of run in the evening. It really doesn't feel like Thanksgiving when you're not at home, but Ralph has invited me to join him again this year and I'm looking forward to it. New friends and experiences happening all the time, occasionally I race my bike too.
